Join our session on “Plant Phenomics: Beyond the platform” at the SEB Annual Conference Antwerp 2025 (8 – 11 July 2025), with an abstract.

Abstract submission deadline until Friday, 7th March 2025.

High throughput plant phenotyping has emerged two decades ago as an enabling technology. It is now an interdisciplinary field that integrates plant biology, data science, engineering, and artificial intelligence to understand plants, crops and (agro)ecosystems behaviour, growth, and development under various environmental conditions.

Submit your abstract: SEB 2025 session Plant Phenomics: Beyond the platforms

This session aims at illustrating the many usages, challenges and avenues associated with plant phenomics including (non-exhaustively) abiotic and biotic stress responses analysis, (pre)breeding, variety testing, GxExM analysis, or models for prediction. It also aims at showcasing connections with envirotyping as well as with other omics / big data approaches. We will cover aspects on:

  • Big data approaches (incl cross fertilisation from other omics),
  • navigation through the phenotypic and the envirotypic spaces,
  • bridging gaps between platforms in controlled conditions and the field, and
  • the potentials and needs of unleashed data harvest (incl lean phenotyping, on farms exp, satellite imaging…).

Confirmed speakers include Ioannis Athanasiadis (Wageningen University & Research), Hendrik Poorter (Forschungszentrum Jülich), Boris Parent (INRAE) and Scott Champann (University of Queensland).

We will bring together end users of plant phenomics data and facilities as well as developers / providers of phenomics solutions (incl from SME). The audience will gather plant (eco)physiologists interested in abiotic and biotic stresses, plant and crop modelers, data scientists, (reverse or quantitative) geneticists, and broadly speaking the GxExM community. Audience from the seed industry is also welcome.
